What to Do if GED Math and Science is Difficult

You will rarely find someone who has a good grasp of all the subjects on the GED exam. For example, GED math may prove challenging, especially if the questions deal with aspects of math you did not learn in school. Even if you did, years may pass between school attendance and the taking of the GED exam. Luckily there are all kinds of helpful resources to help with both GED math and GED science. Often people who have trouble with one have trouble with the other. Therefore it may help to study both.

There are many adult education courses or programs offered free or at a reasonably low cost, where these are organized to get you ready for the exam. These classes run for weeks, usually during the evening hours when working adults are most able to attend. If you choose to study for the test in this type of setting you will be working with an instructor in a classroom setting with other students. For some, this can be an excellent way to pick up new skills and refresh old ones. For others, learning in a classroom may be a hindrance. For example the American Council on Education or ACE has a fantastic site where you can get all the information you need about this test. You can even look up testing locations and find adult eduction centers in your area. If you are good with a search engine you can track down many other math and science GED resources. There are even online practice tests that give you an idea of what the questions on the real test will be like.

Of course, there are published many book resources that helps you handle GED math, GED science and other subjects. The test itself is divided into five sections, with math and science being two of them. The others are Reading, Writing and Social Studies. Take a look at a title like GED Mathematics by Liz Anderson or McGraw -Hill's Top 50 Math Skills For GED Success by Robert Mitchell and Dolores Emery. These are subject specific books that give you the information you need to sharpen your knowledge in this area. A solid grasp of all five GED test subjects is crucial to obtaining a passing score.
