Adult Education GED Study Tips
GED is an acronym that stands for General Educational Development, as pronounced by the American Council on Education or in short ACE. However, many people refer to the GED as the General Equivalency Diploma because it is just like getting your high school diploma. If you've been out of high school for awhile, as many have, adult education GED study is very important in order to pass the test. Even if you feel confident about your academic ability it is a good idea to prepare yourself by taking a practice test and studying the areas in which you need improvement.
There is an option to be tested online through a online practice test and then marked electronically as well. These scores will tell you which areas you need to work on, if any. There are also practice tests in GED study books. If you decide to take an exam preparation course at your local adult learning center a pretest may also be administered. It's a good idea to take a practice test three times. Once before you begin studying, once midway through and once right before you're ready to take the test so the knowledge is fresh in your mind.
In the processing of studying it is certainly of great assistant to have a friend who can assist you with call out questions and answers for you. Even simple flash cards used by elementary schoolers can go a long way towards helping you learn. You will find that some of the material on the test is challenging, however with millions of GED graduates you can be hopeful that you will pass if you study enough. The study methods and amount of study honestly depend on your preferences and level of academic knowledge. There are online distance courses, classes at learning centers as mentioned before, and GED preparatory books.
Some interesting students even have chosen to combine a few adult education GED study methods. For example you may use a textbook and online course. Or, you may go to a classroom for study and then study at home on the Internet or using one of these preparatory books. A couple good titles you may want to consider when studying for the GED include Barron's GED by Murray Rockowitz Ph.D., Samuel C. Brownstein, Max Peters, and Ira K. Wolf Ph.D. and The GED for Dummies by by Murray Shukyn and Dale Shuttleworth. Books like these can go a long way towards successful completion of the GED exam.
